For students who enroll in C.A.M.P., it is our goal to help nurture them from the time they enroll in C.A.M.P. through their journey from college to career with the hope that they will then re-engage in C.A.M.P. to continue the circle.

Career Seminars

We host monthly seminars to help students gain valuable skills to succeed in their futures. Seminars range from ACT prep to networking to mentorship and more.

Profiles/Resumes

Every student who enrolls in C.A.M.P. gets support to craft their own personal profiles and resumes to help them in the application process for jobs and internships.

Internships

C.A.M.P. students have completed over 160 paid internships with C.A.M.P. partner organizations, helping them get invaluable early work experience.

Liaisons/Mentoring

Through mentoring and liaisons, we stay connected with students as they graduate from Early College and start their professional lives.

Transportation

We offer support when students need transportation, including helping with driver’s education fees and finding affordable cars.

TOPUCU

Since 2018, C.A.M.P. has offered The Only Person You Cheat is You (T.O.P.U.C.U.) training seminars. Approximately 840 students have completed this training to date.

College Visits

All Early College High School students are offered 10 local university tours throughout their junior and senior year, helping to encourage attendance at nearby schools.

ACT/SAT/FAFSFA

On average after tutoring, C.A.M.P. students increased their scores by 6 points from their first test to their second test with many of our students scoring 30 and above.

Scholarships

Scholarships are given to Early College graduates to help them achieve cost-neutral tuition so they can start their professional lives without a huge burden of debt.

Job Shadowing

Local businesses give our students opportunities to shadow professionals to learn about different careers and help discover if a career is the right fit for their skills and interests.

Roundtables

At our roundtables, students meet with professionals in their fields of interest and have opportunities to learn and ask questions.

Young Leaders Society/ystark!

We partner with young professionals who serve as mentors for our students and help to connect C.A.M.P. with job shadowing and internship opportunities.

Middle School Expansion “You Science”

You Science helps students learn their top talents and main interests. The program provides top career matches and the best majors to get students started in the right direction.

C.A.M.P. begins to engage with all Early College students as they enter 7th grade.

All students grades 7th-8th participate in guest speaker sessions exposing them to a variety of career paths, as well as the “You Science” program (sponsored by the Stark Education Partnership) which expands students’ exposure to various career options.

In 9th grade, the TOPUCU program is added.

TOPUCU (The Only Person U Cheat is U) is a nationally recognized program that assists students in examining key areas of their lives, identifying specific and attainable goals, and developing a lifelong personal mission statement. By fostering self-awareness and goal setting, it empowers students to stay focused on their future success.

Midway through their sophomore year, ECHS students can apply to be part of the C.A.M.P. program.

Twenty to 25 students are accepted. Requirements to be accepted into the program are: a minimum 3.0 GPA, submission of a compelling essay, and completion of an interview.

Upon entry into the formal program, C.A.M.P. students begin to participate in ACT/SAT preparation by being given free access to the “Methodize” test learning platform. They also receive regular guidance by one of C.A.M.P.’s partners, College Planning Alliance. Additionally, they begin attending monthly career seminars and participating in resume writing seminars.

At the start of their junior year C.A.M.P. students are taught communication skills, interviewing skills, and networking skills.

Students who demonstrate proficiency in these areas qualify to become part of a career shadowing program. The Early College principal excuses students for up to three half days to job shadow at our partner workplaces. This is a strategic exercise to assist students in narrowing career choices, after which they can be matched up with local businesses for a paid summer apprenticeships/internship.

Some of C.A.M.P.’s participating employers include: Timken, Freshmark, West Medical, Area Wide Protection, Tiqvah, Glenmoor, Gervasi, and Krugliak. Transportation is critical to securing our students’ internships, so C.A.M.P. provides approximately 10 free drivers education stipends annually, sharing these costs with another local nonprofit, Katie’s Kids. Obtaining a driver’s license is necessary for many of our students, as Sarta does not have routes to all of the internship sites. Additionally, in their junior year, all students attend on-site local college visits. Students are bussed to and from the colleges by C.A.M.P.

In their senior year of high school, C.A.M.P. students continue all of the above services with an additional focus on FAFSA creation, final ACT/SAT testing and scholarship applications.

As C.A.M.P. students near their high school graduation, they are assigned a career mentor that will monitor their progress throughout their entire college career. C.A.M.P. has formed partnerships with both the Young Leaders Society and ystark!, where these young professionals serve as our graduate’s career mentors, providing critical support to the vulnerable college age population.

Upon college graduation, the former C.A.M.P. students may then be invited to join their mentors in the Young Leaders Society and/or ystark! allowing them to become future C.A.M.P. mentors themselves. They are also evaluated to join the C.A.M.P. Advisory Committee. This allows them to give back by supporting future students of C.A.M.P. and its partner programs.
